What does “low” mean in the severity scale?
A low score means 0 to 25 on the severity scale — the Negligible band, the lowest of five. “Low” corresponds to the Negligible band (under 25) or the Mild band (25–44) of our five-band scale: Negligible (under 25), Mild (25–44), Moderate (45–64), Strong (65–84), and Severe (85+) — a single 0–100 score that accounts for trigger, house, amplifiers, and the ten cancellation rules together.
What causes a low Mangal Dosha score?
Two quite different routes produce the same low number. A low score usually comes from a single, milder trigger (for example, Anshik Manglik status from Venus alone rather than the Lagna), strong cancellation (an own-sign or exalted Mars, Jupiter’s aspect, or a named sign-house exception), or a trigger house our engine weights lower, such as the 2nd house relative to the 8th.
Which of the two routes is more favourable?
A genuinely low raw figure is the more stable of the two. A high raw figure reduced by strong cancellation depends on rules that a different tradition might weigh differently — particularly if the reduction rests on debilitated Mars, which is contested. Two people with identical low scores can therefore be in quite different positions.
Does a low score mean the dosha can be ignored?
It means the weighted, post-cancellation figure is small — which is a genuine result, not a technicality. What it does not do is settle a match on its own, since the other chart carries equal weight in any pairing.
Is a low Mangal Dosha score good or bad?
Neither exactly — it’s information rather than a verdict: a low score means the classical factors this analysis checks are, on balance, mild, but it doesn’t override other chart factors or eliminate the underlying placement.

How did the score get low — and does that distinction matter?
Yes, more than the number itself. Two routes lead to the same low score, and they are not equivalent.
A low raw score. The trigger fell in a lightly weighted house — the 2nd at base 40, or the 4th at 45 — from a single reference point. No cancellation was needed to arrive at a low figure.
A high raw score with strong cancellation. The trigger fell in the 7th or 8th house, producing a high raw figure, which several cancellation rules then reduced substantially.
The second case is the more interesting one. Cancellation caps at 85%, so a chart arriving at a low net score through cancellation has already used most of the mitigation available to it. A chart with a low raw score and no cancellation, by contrast, still has every rule unused.
