The balancing factor is the one most often misreported elsewhere. Popular sources describe it as a straight cancellation — two Mangliks cancel out. What the tradition claims is narrower, and the scoring reflects that: the credit is proportional to the severity involved, so two mild Manglik charts offset each other almost completely while two strongly afflicted charts offset each other only partly. A mutual-Manglik pairing never scores above an otherwise identical pairing where neither chart carries the dosha.

Does a high score override a severe individual dosha?
No. Both readings stand and the report shows them together. A pairing can score reasonably while one partner carries a Severe individual band, and collapsing those into one verdict would hide the thing most worth knowing.
